Tuesday, July 9, 2013: Today began with the rail that separates the 2 drawers. It requires precise, and I mean precise layout work, with knife walls all around. A housing dado is created, about ⅛” deep. This rail is then dovetailed into the housing dado (think sliding dovetail, but not really).
Once this is fit, it’s time to double check all of the joinery for glue-up.
The glue-up for this project needs to move swiftly and confidently. There will be glue freeze, and once you begin, there cannot be any distractions. Here is my chest, glued and clamped.
I’ll let it sit in the clamps overnight, and tomorrow, start the frame and panels for the lid.
