Friday, July 5, 2013: Today’s work was entirely through dovetails. There was a basic demonstration of the common dovetail, then lots of discussion on methods to improve the accuracy of the dovetail. I will not bore you with the details here, but suffice to say that I am very impressed with Paul’s method. Dead accurate results, every time.
During some down time, Paul pulled a couple of us to his bench, and showed how to make the dovetail layout jig. It’s a simple jig for laying out dovetails, made from a piece of hardwood 1-¼” x ⅞” x 4”. I’ve detailed the construction of it in my written journal. I made one, and it is a very handy layout tool.
